Day 10: Rediscovering Joy
Rediscovering Joy
is like having a muscle,
That hasn't been used
For a very long time.
The dust has gathered so thick
You can write your name on it.
It's like getting back in the saddle, twenty years on,
And finding you ache
In all the wrong,
And tender places.
And so, it takes a little effort,
A strong intention,
And a hell of a lot of determination
As you step on the treadmill,
The ground beneath you moving,
And you follow it.
One foot slapping down before the other.
Uttering between breaths..
.'I choose Joy. I choose Joy. I choose Joy'.
An internal soundtrack washing through you,
Bathing your muscles, your cells, your blood, your bones.
A little of this each day
And the muscle gets a little stronger,
A little bigger.
A little more pumped up.
Joy begins to get easier to find.
You look for it less.
Now Joy finds you.
You no longer notice the weights on each end
As you raise the bar.
For Finding Joy has become
Simply no effort at all.
